Dragon Wagons insurance
INSURANCE
Insurance is included in the daily hire rate. All vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first NZ$4,000 of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism. This also includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage). The excess applies in respect of each claim, not rental. The excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded if we are successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the Third Party. Please note that insurance is not compulsory in New Zealand and there is no guarantee that these damages will be recovered and third party claims can take months or even years to resolve.
EXCESS REDUCTION OPTION
You are able to choose one of the following insurance options:
1) Option 1 - By paying NZ$12 per day you can reduce the excess/bond from NZ$4,000 to NZ$1,500. Under this option the Vehicle Security Deposit required is NZ$1,500.
2) Option 2 - By paying NZ$22 per day you can reduce the excess/bond from NZ$4,000 to NZ$300. Under this option the Vehicle Security Deposit required is NZ$300. This option also provides tyre and windscreen cover (excluding sunroof where applicable).
INSURANCE EXCLUSIONS
The hirer acknowledges by the signing of this agreement that they are aware of all the exclusions and damage not covered by insurance, and are immediately liable for payment.
All Insurance Cover and Excess Reduction Options are void if any of the terms of the Rental Agreement are breached and the hirer will be responsible for the total cost of any damage. All insurance cover will be made void if any of the following ‘Exclusions’ are breached:
a) Overhead and underbody damage to the vehicle: The cost of repairing overhead or roof damage caused by contact between the vehicle and objects overhanging or obstructing the path of the vehicle or if damage is caused by persons placing objects on the roof of the vehicle. The cost of repairing any under body damage, and any resulting damage from that under body damage, including mechanical damage to the vehicle;
b) Tyre and windscreen damage unless tyre and windscreen cover has been purchased.
